Motorcycle Gear Tutorial
A step-by-step how-to guide on how to locate, remove, and insert motorcycle jacket armor pads
NOTE: Although this guide focuses on the Alpinestars T-GP Plus V3 Air, this method applies to all if not most motorcycle jackets with protective armor pads.
This tutorial covers how to locate, remove, and insert motorcycle armor pads. If you have a standard motorcycle jacket, that jacket should have protective armor padding. Most likely you will want to remove that padding whether it be to upgrade your protection from CE1 to CE2 or if you just want to wash your jacket. In either case, you’ll need to be able to locate where the padding is and then you’ll have to find a way to reach those protective pads for removal.

Motorcycle Jacket Design
Now, a brief background about motorcycle jacket design. Common motorcycle jackets are mainly made from leather, textile, and mesh. The outer layer or outer shell of this jacket is made of a hybrid tear / resistant textile and mesh fabric hybrid. Perfect for hot summer riding. The interior of the standard motorcycle jacket utilizes protective padding. This protective padding is commonly applied to three high-impact zones of the rider’s body: the shoulders, the elbows, and the back. This specific jacket from Alpinestars also has inserts for additional chest pads. Those are applied to the area covering the chest.
